Project Description:

This project was devised to address the mentorship needs of „young“ faculty at BCCH and BCWH – physicians who are within the first 10 years of independent practice. Many young faculty and newly arrived IMG faculty (International Medical Graduates) lack support, and struggle to establish effective mentorship relationships, especially in a new institution. This project had three specific aims. The first was to provide academic, professional and personal support to young faculty through senior faculty, as well as peer to peer mentorship. The second, to address challenges that are particular to newly-arrived IMGs, by linking well established IMGs with newcomers to BCCH/BCWH, and the third, to foster physician engagement in mentorship by providing workshops intended to improve mentoring skills of faculty.
